Photography Research

Research for my initial idea of ‘The natural v The man made’.

Eduardo Leal – Plastic trees-

I decided to research further into Eduardo Leal’s Plastic Tree series as it I thought it was very interesting and eye-opening the way he contrasts natural things such as trees with unnatural items that are bad for the environment such as plastic bags. The series mainly consists of very bleak colours such as brown, grey and white to show the serious and upsetting theme behind the project.

Chris Packhams Litter in nature project-

During my research I also found the photographer Chris Packham and his simply named project Litter in Nature. I also spotted the contrast of natural things juxtaposed with natural things. For example in the first picture bellowed we see litter on the floor with pigeons above. As well as this in the second photo we see a panda, although its only a teddy bear we are still reminded of the living animals on the planet. This makes the audience remember that littering does have consequence and humans are not the only thing living on this planet who are effected by litter and pollution. Packham also uses bleak colours such as grey and black.

Initial Ideas-

As I first started taking photos I tried to take inspiration from the two photographers I researched by using bleak colours as shown in the second picture with a grey background and dark brown leaves. While first exploring the idea of man v nature I felt that finding litter in natural places such as bushes and trees was very interesting and I felt it would help open the audiences eyes to the problem we have with litter.
